Suspire LLC: Ensuring Accuracy with Chain of Custody DNA Testing

Suspire LLC is committed to providing reliable and court-admissible DNA testing services. A crucial element in achieving these goals is maintaining a strict chain of custody for all samples.

What is Chain of Custody DNA Testing?

Chain of custody (COC) refers to a documented trail that tracks the possession and handling of a DNA sample from collection to analysis and final reporting. This documented record ensures the sample originates from the intended individuals and hasn’t been tampered with throughout the testing process.

Why are Chain of Custody DNA tests important?

Chain of custody is paramount in legal situations where DNA test results can significantly impact court decisions. Here’s why:

  • Preserves Sample Integrity: COC procedures minimize the risk of sample contamination or substitution, ensuring the results reflect the true genetic profiles of the tested individuals.
  • Establishes Admissibility in Court: For DNA test results to be considered valid evidence in court, a proper chain of custody must be demonstrably maintained. Suspire LLC’s COC protocols guarantee your results are admissible in legal proceedings.
  • Enhances Trust and Confidence: A documented chain of custody fosters trust and transparency in the DNA testing process. You can be confident that your samples have been handled with the utmost care and security.

What is the Purpose of Chain of Custody?

Maintaining a chain of custody is essential for:

  • Accuracy: It guarantees the tested sample truly comes from the intended individuals.
  • Admissibility in Court: Legal proceedings require demonstrably untampered samples. A documented chain of custody strengthens the validity of your DNA test results.
  • Peace of Mind: Knowing your samples are handled securely fosters trust in the testing process and its outcomes.

How do we maintain sample integrity at Suspire LLC?

Suspire LLC takes pride in its rigorous chain of custody procedures. Here’s how we ensure the integrity of your samples:

  • Trained Professionals: Our sample collectors are trained to follow strict AABB protocols for DNA sample collections; ensuring proper collection, labeling, and documentation.
  • Secure Collection Kits: We provide tamper-evident collection kits that minimize the risk of contamination during sample collection.
  • Unbroken Chain: We maintain a meticulous record of every individual who handles your sample, from collection to analysis.
  • Tamper-Evident Seals: We use tamper-evident seals on all collection kits to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Secure Transportation: Samples are transported using secure methods with documented tracking.
  • State-of-the-Art Labs: Our DNA testing is conducted in accredited laboratories with robust security measures to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Detailed Documentation: We maintain meticulous records at every stage of the chain of custody.

Which DNA Test is Most Accurate?

Every DNA test conducted with Suspire LLC is highly accurate. Suspire ensures that the labs that offer these tests and that analyse the DNA samples are vetted and each of their accreditations are verified before being available on our website. The accuracy of a DNA test hinges on several factors, including the quality of the collected sample and the laboratory’s testing methods.

In cases where the DNA test performed is for personal information only (also known as a peace of mind test), samples are taken by the individuals themselves and results depend on the samples they provide.

However, under a properly maintained chain of custody DNA test, samples are taken by our trained professionals under proper ID verification, ensuring samples are not compromised and you can be confident the results reflect the accurate results for the tested individuals.

Understanding Chain of Custody Terminology

Several terms describe chain of custody in DNA testing:

  • Sample Chain of Custody: This refers to the specific documentation outlining the sample’s journey.
  • Chain of Custody Approach: This describes the overall system for maintaining a documented record.
  • Sample Collection Chain of Custody: This focuses on the initial collection process and documentation.
  • Chain of Custody of a Specimen Collection: This is another term for sample chain of custody.
  • COC Sampling: This is an abbreviation for chain of custody sampling.

A chain of custody DNA test procedure maintains and tracks the possession of your DNA sample from collection to analysis. This is done to ensure the integrity and legal defensibility of the  reports.

Chain of custody is essential for legal DNA testing used in court cases (paternity, child custody, immigration) to demonstrate the samples belong to the identified individuals and haven’t been tampered with.

We use trained DNA collectors who are recipients of certificates that demonstrate knowledge in DNA Relationship Testing Standards; applicable to the collection of test samples as written and established by AABB. We also use tamper-evident sealed DNA collection kits and ensure the detailed documentation and secure tracked transportation of DNA samples.

Trained professionals first verify your Government Issued Valid Photo Identification document, and then collect your DNA using a sterile swab following strict protocols to minimize contamination.

Samples are transported in secure, sealed, sterile and labelled envelopes, using specialized Express Medical Transportation services by our transport partners, to the laboratory, to prevent loss or damage.

Accuracy depends on sample quality and testing methodology. Suspire LLC always partners with only the best laboratories that use advanced technology for highly accurate results. However, a chain of custody DNA test, where samples are taken by a neutral trained collector, offers a greater sense of accuracy as the whole process of collection to results is tracked and allows for legally defensible results.

The turnaround time for chain of custody DNA tests can vary depending on the specific test. Contact Suspire LLC for current timelines.

The interpretation is fairly simple to understand, however, if you have further questions regarding your report, you can connect with Suspire LLC for further assistance.

If your DNA test results are needed for legal purposes (e.g. court cases, at the embassy), then a chain of custody test may be required. The need would largely depend on your purpose of the report. Suspire LLC strongly recommends that a suitable legal counsel be taken to explore every option and only then proceeding with a COC DNA test.

Our Chain of Custody Service is charged at AED 1500/- per test (excluding the cost of analysis of the DNA test). This service will provide you with a soft copy of your COC reports.
In case, you require hard copies of the original paper report with Apostille, the charge for this option of the chain of custody service is AED 2100/- per test (excluding the cost of analysis of the DNA test).
Any extra copies of the original report/apostille will be charged at AED 650/- each.
Total Costs can vary depending on the specific test. Contact Suspire LLC for current pricing information.

Chain of custody DNA testing with an Apostille is a strong starting point for international use. However, the apostille only verifies the authenticity of the document. The Apostille issued by a country  (based on the Hague Convention) simply confirms the document originated from a legitimate authority. It doesn’t necessarily mean the document’s content (the test results) is legally valid in another country.

  • Individual countries have their own requirements: Suspire LLC always recommends to check with the relevant embassy or consulate for additional requirements in the target country; if apostilled DNA reports can be accepted without any further legalization or attestation before proceeding for a test.
  • Consult with a lawyer: An attorney specializing in international law can advise you on the legal procedures needed for your specific situation and the target country.
